Project Impact
A more disaster-resilient Pakistan with reduced socioeconomic and fiscal vulnerability to natural hazards and climate variability and change through protection of 3,142 hectare of land and lives and livelihood of 297,627 vulnerable population in Districts Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot and Dadu
The said intervention includes
i) Construction of Flood protection walls
ii) Construction of Water Conservation Structures and Landslide stabilization.
iii) A total of 45 flood protection walls, 20 Water Conservation Structures and 45 Land Slide Stabilization works will be
carried out under the project.
With the proposed geographical coverage in 16 Union Councils of 4 Districts, the project will support the implementation of
CBDRM activities in 160 Revenue Villages. The CBDRM component will support the formation of 160 Revenue Village Disaster
Risk Management Committees and 16 Union Council Disaster Risk Management Committees.
Under the proposed project a total 400 individuals are planned to be trained in emergency response. The activity will
support in the development of a cadre of local experts with appropriate skills of search & rescue and First Aid. Under the said
intervention necessary emergency response tool kit and equipment will be provided at the revenue village level.

Project Description
The L.S Bund is the first line of defense, river protection bund serving to protect the famous archaeological site of Mohen-Jo-Daro in Larkana District along with serving the most populated district comprising of acres of agriculture land with agriculture being the key source of livelihood for the majority of the population. The project also aims to protect public infrastructure, including the Indus Highway, Railway Track and other public and private properties. The erosive and wave wash action of the River Indus directly impacts the densely populated city of Larkana. This project of Stone Apron, Stone Pitching and Earth Work along the L.S Bund will provide a defense to the major chunk of the population of the district, along with protecting the historical heritage of Moen-Jo-Daro.
